Curves generally take up less square footage and can work in small spaces by bringing in visual cosiness with a lot of intimacy and warmth. In large rooms, a curved piece makes a great statement, where they can take up volume as sectional sofas or opulent armchairs and ottomans.

The beautiful soft lines of curved furniture are the perfect vehicle for texture and colour. Curved furniture is made to showcase soft textiles, with touches like velvet, silk mohair or velour. It needs upholstery that’s flexible enough to follow the curve, with a particular nap that reflects light and highlights the furniture’s curvy form. Quilted textures or boucle are also great for curved pieces. In terms of colour, there's fun to be had choosing between rich earthy or jewel tones or going in a much softer direction with pastel tones of pink, blue, green or yellow.

The top reason why curved furniture is everywhere is that it’s fun. It can be equally elegant and contemporary as it is playful and relaxing. Curves give the eye a natural place to rest and the organic appearance is calming and welcoming.
